Meet Our Teachers
We are so fortunate at Cedar Cross to have such amazing teachers! They are kind, patient and caring and they are placed with the perfect age groups that fit their personalities and experience. They are an amazing resource for our parents and become so special to our children.
Taryn Kaylor, Pre-K Teacher
Taryn is a former CCCP parent who we are so excited to have returning to join the program as a teacher. She has previous experience as a cooperative preschool teacher, and has dedicated many years to public and social service with a commitment to children and early childhood education. She holds a degree in Psychology with a focus in Developmental Psychology.
Taryn brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new post as our Pre-K Teacher and we are very excited to have her with us!
Lesa Leonard, 3-4 Year Old Teacher
Teacher Lesa has been with Cedar Cross Cooperative Preschool since 2000. She was a parent in our program before we enthusiastically welcomed her as a teacher. She believes that every child is special and a gift from God. CCCP is special to her because it is a Christian preschool, and she is able to share her deep love of Jesus with her students, through Bible stories, prayers and sharing the celebration of Christmas and Easter. In her curriculum, she finds it is important to let children express themselves through exploration and play, and encourages learning through hands-on activities. She has a true love for children! She finds their excitement and eagerness for life’s simple joys, contagious. After more than a decade here, Cedar Cross Cooperative is her second home, and we are so lucky to have her! She was previously a children’s ministry leader in her home state of Kentucky, as well as here in Washington State, when she first came here in 1998. She is thankful to also share her life with Bryan, her husband of 29 years, and her two lovely grown daughters, Tabitha (23) and Abigail (19). When she isn't teaching or spending time with friends and family she also enjoys crafting and thrifting.
“Teacher Lesa provided my son a comfortable and welcoming place to learn, grow and explore in. We started the preschool the first week after a move, so there was a lot of apprehension on my son’s part, but it didn’t take long for him to know he was safe and loved in Teacher Lesa’s class.” -Jen Yormark, CCCP Parent 4 years
Geralynn King, 2-3 Year Old Teacher
Teacher Geralynn joined our staff in 2001, after participating as a parent for eight years with her three children. She provides a fun environment and helps build self esteem through play and creative activities.
“My son was in Teacher Geralynn’s class. She is so wonderful! All the kids love her and she takes time to connect with each and every child and get to know their individual personalities. It is hard (for both parent and child) to venture off into the new world of preschool, but Teacher Geralynn helps the children make the transition smoothly and she is so tender and gentle with them. My son couldn’t have had a better experience for his first year at school!” -Michelle Mallory, CCCP Parent 3 years
